Gearing up for our final web development class presentation. We had a week to strut our stuff, showing off projects to industry folks, the class, and a few faculty members.
Now, while everyone was hustling on their websites and projects, I thought, "Why not spice things up a bit?" So, instead of a regular website, I cooked up a 2D scrolling game with a character that suspiciously looked like yours truly, strolling through the woods and casually dropping info about me.
Couple of days later, voila! Done. And guess what? After that presentation, I recieved a phone call and scored my initial gig as a CSS Guru.
Originally, it was all about showing off how to spice up a game using the basic trio of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript—breaking the rules a bit and having some fun with animation. In just a couple of days of me messing around with design and code, bam! I managed to whip up something pretty decent to flaunt in front of the whole class.
It was like a little coding victory dance!
I've revamped my portfolio many times now, and somewhere along the way, the game got lost in the development shuffle. It's not like I misplaced it or anything—it's more that I decided to bench it. You know, with actual work projects rolling in, they seemed more portfolio-worthy.
But over the years, I started noticing that my portfolio was blending into the sea of "same-same" ones—just a bunch of project screenshots. Boring, right? So, guess what? I went digging in my old GitHub repo, found my trusty 2D game, and guess what? I made it better. Like, so much better!
Now, it's not just a boring ol' list of stuff; it's a multi-level adventure where you can click around and discover things about me. We're talking about my interests, hobbies, skills, work stories, and awards all laid out on different levels.
It's not just about looking cool; it's about showing off my tech design mojo and flexing those coding muscles.Oh, and did I mention the animations? Everything's got a snazzier, upgraded vibe. It's like the whole game decided to throw a party, from riding a bike, rivers, and cave adventures!
Each platform has its own vibe and design, proving that I can tailor my stuff for different scenes. All done with basic tools like HTML, CSS, JS, and a dash of Adobe Illustrator for the graphics.
I'm all about pushing boundaries and proving that even the basics can birth crazy cool ideas. But hey, even though it's basic, the goal here is to shout from the rooftops that creativity doesn't give a hoot about limits.
So, grab a snack, kick back, and explore a game that's not just about resumes and tech skills—it's a laid-back journey through a world where coding meets creativity in the coolest way possible.
